Q&A for potential applicants to the New Brunswick Business Immigration stream

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) launched, on January 13th, 2021, a new immigration pathway for entrepreneurs called the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream.

The stream will provide a pathway to Permanent Residence (PR) that begins with a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). If selected and approved for a TRV, individuals will have one year to own and operate a business in New Brunswick. If the business is deemed to be successful by the Government of New Brunswick a nomination certificate will be given for an application for permanent residence.

The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream is designed for experienced business owners and senior managers who wish to become permanent residents by owning and managing a business in New Brunswick, while residing in the province.
The program Guide contains further details about this new program.

What is the minimum investment amount?

    $150,000 CAD.

What is the minimum personal net worth amount?

    $500,000 CAD.

Are there priority sectors and locations?

Yes, see the Guide for more details.

I submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the previous Entrepreneurial stream; is it still valid?

No. To apply to this new stream, you must complete a new EOI.

I have already received and invitation to apply (ITA) to the previous Entrepreneurial stream; is it still valid?

Yes, active ITAs from the previous program will be processed under the previous program criteria.

If I have been nominated already, can I now get a TRV?

No. If you were nominated under the previous Entrepreneurial stream, you can use your valid nomination certificate to apply for Canadian PR as a Provincial Nominee

If I receive a TRV and operate my business for one year, do I automatically get a nomination from New Brunswick.

No, you must fulfill all the conditions of the program as detailed in the Guide.

Are the TRV and PR automatic with this program?

No, issuance of TRV and PR is at the discretion of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Do I need to hire a third-party representative to prepare my application?

No, you are not required to hire a representative. Using one will not draw special attention to your application and does not mean we will extend an Invitation to Apply or issue of a nomination certificate. You can get all the forms and instructions you need to apply for nomination, for free, on our website. If you follow the instructions, you should be able fill out the forms and submit them yourself. You may choose to use a representative to provide immigration advice or help. If so, you must disclose that you have received assistance in preparing an application. Failure to declare such assistance will result in the refusal of your application.
